June 14th I left Oosterland, and flew from Brussels to Billings MT. Dave Kirsten flew me to Johnson Creek ID for the Super Cub Fly In. Made breakfast fly outs with Dave, Dean and Steve Johnson. Could tell my Dream of Flying Story there. Did not win the gun. I flew with Rick Papp and Dean Nordsving to Minneapolis. Grant Wallace flew me in his Champ and took me to Frontier Airlines. They put me down in Anchorage, Alaska. At Lake Hood Mark Englerth flew me in his float Cub to a cabin. From a glacier flight with Joe Beck. On the highway north I stayed with JRHammack, drove on to Vicky and Dan in Fairbanks. Flew to their cabin in the wilderness. Made Off airport landings myself with instructor Clay. Back again in Wassila in Mark and Sheila's cabin. Attended my first 4th of July Parade. Then John Graham picked me up with his Scout and flew me to AK66, where I met host GlacierCub Paul Pogue. Great meal there. Next day outings to gravel bars, Lake Hood, Talkeetna with Greg Swingle - just married the day before on the glacier - Dan De Voe and the Conklin family for Idaho.
And now: I am staying with the Grahams. Got an invitation from Rick Papp for the weekend to joind him for a fly in somewhere in New York. Then I will travel to Whitelaw, Wisconsin and prepare myself for the Oshkosh shows.
I plotted our trip on my Flitestar Jeppesen program. When zooming out the whole world appeared. And then I saw how long the trip was I was honored to make with John.
From AK66 to Graham Field OH, if I had started in the Netherlands, I would have been in China by now.
And all this made possible by the great website of SuperCub.org and its members. Flabbergasting ...
