So many things have happened since my last post ...

I presented my book to Cubdoctor Clyde Smith, did three presentations at Airventure of one was harshly disturbed by the Tora Tora War Air Show ... But the last one at EAA Welcome Centre was fine! So I was very content when I drove back to Whitelaw to meet my friends Krijn and Carol and Rollie.
From right to left: Carol, Rollie, neighbor Jack, Krijn and Jacks old Texaco gaspump.
View on Rotterdam while United 972 to for the landing on Brussels Airport.

Out of the 1000 printed books, 230 were sold when left for Brussels on Tuesday morning.
I am still running short to pay the printers invoice. So if you want to sponsor the project, you might do so on:

I write this now in the Louisburgh, Ireland Community Centre. After a trip that took two days, two ferries and a lot of mileage I arrived there as part of the team to make a short moving 'As Time Stood Still'. I play the part of a grandfather. My friend Gerry Sheridan is the filmer.

Reint and Krijn back in Oshkosh in front of a sea of hundreds of Piper J3 Cubs. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the great airplane. And 'Flying Dutchman and his Cub, a Dream Comes True', the first 100 copies sold! Great! Half of the just printing costs is covered. Do you have a dream that needs to become true or know somebody who does so, send that person the book or give it as a present to yourself. You can order directly via flyingdutchmanandhiscub.com.

Both of us went directly after Oshkosh to New Holstein to meet our SuperCub friends. Had a great chickenmeal and Krijn was immediately taken up by his old flying buddy Rick into the air. River flight with four Cubs and coming back in the sunset.
Wow!

Thursday, Rain, fishboil, dry .....

Fishboil, recipe included! What has the fire to do with it? We started out with rain, when the water boiled it became dry and so we had a great dinner, Carol, Rollie, the neighbours Jack and Bonnie, and Pearl and his wife. Oh yes and Kirklin was there. And we two Dutchmen. Great evening!

Another booksigning session this Saturday

After my booksigning session in the Culture Café, I met Manager June of Book World Store in Manitowoc WI. She offered me to sell the book in consignment in her wonderful bookstore. And I will do another session autographing the books that might be sold. Luckily I have still quite a number of books with me, though one parcel seems to be mislead to another part of the vast USA.

Wednesday Booksigning Culture Cafė Manitowoc

In the morning Carol lend me her ironing equipment so I could press my KLM overall and appear neat for the presentation. Krijn helped to attach the Cub emblem properly to the same overall. We did some shopping in Manitowoc and were well time at the cafe to change it into a small theatre. The place filled nicely with 19 people. And I had the challenge to tell the story without any aircraft being near. Our host and experienced pilot said afterwards that the absence improved the show. It gave the kids more space for their imagination. Thank you Rollie!

In the evening we had a magnificent dinner with the Titel family, Arlee and Sharon.

Rain

Tuesday I have been to Oshkosh to meet Mark Forss of EAA and get an idea where I will do my presentations this year. While I waited in the EAA museum I could not help but see an immaculate Piper J3 Cub:

After some time Mark managed to free himself of all the preparations they are working on to get Airventure ready for Monday the 23rd. He gave me a wristband that enables me to go to EAA anytime during the week. And he drove me in his car to the EAA Welcome Center and the other aula where I will do the seminars. So done I drove back to Whitelaw, just in time for the weather. After so long without rain, the clouds burst and Krijn and Carol toasted to that on the front porch!
